Life update

It’s been a long time since I sat down to write a real update, and a lot of things have happened since the 12th of October last year.

The major change in my life is that, during the first two weeks of November, I moved to a different country.

I could spin a yarn about how my secret underground fortress was discovered, infiltrated, and ultimately destroyed… but I won’t. I am in a different underground bunker (I downsized), and there may or may not be shamrocks growing outside.

Since the move, I’ve been asked “why?” on a constant basis. Yes, the move was unexpected. No, I didn’t particularly want to move. However, when family needs you, you have to drop everything and do what you have to do. That’s all there is to say on the matter, in all honesty.

Has the move been good for me? I’m not sure. However, it has taken a while to become accustomed to the difference between city life, and village life.

Four months on, and I feel that I’m still finding my feet.

I haven’t been able to pick up my camera since October, as it seems to constantly rain in my new country, but I still plan to at some point.

I completed my Goodreads reading challenge for 2015, barely (I was 7 books ahead). I didn’t get the chance to write up my thoughts on the books that I read during the year, or review Finders Keepers (which I finally finished last week). Though I did manage to set up a new reading challenge on Goodreads for 2016, and I’m already lagging behind!

Standout books of 2015: Steelheart (Brandon Sanderson), The Fault in Our Stars (John Green), Wizard’s First Rule (Terry Goodkind), and Glitched (Christa Charter).

Turkey of the year: Kindred (Erica Stevens) (Read my review, here).

For my birthday, I managed to snag Assassin’s Creed 4 and AC Unity for the PS4. I swore off the series back with the ultra boring AC 3, but Black Flag (4) somehow stoked the fires, pulled me in, and made me a fan again.

Since then, I’ve completed Black Flag, Unity, and picked up the AC Chronicles trilogy pack, AC Rogue, and AC Syndicate (yep, I’m in deep).

While I’ve only just started it, Syndicate already has me wanting to write a review (it’s really good), and I’ve even posted the odd gameplay clip to my YouTube account. In fact, that game has made me want to do a lot of things. I could review it here, or maybe revive OSG… and then there’s the streaming I’ve been testing recently (still not sure what I’m doing with that, who would even watch it?).

So much to do, so little time.
